According to Deadline, British actress Emma D’Arcy has left the biopic Anna.
The project is dedicated to the life of journalist and human rights defender Anna Politkovskaya. The reason for refusing the role was the star’s busy schedule. The actress had to play the journalist’s daughter, Vera. D’Arcy will be replaced by Naomi Buttrick, known for The Snake Queen, The Postcard Murders and Young Morse.
The picture is directed by James Strong (“Murder on the Beach”, “On Duty”). Written by Eric Poppen (Beyond Fear). The film also stars Jason Isaacs, Ciaran Hands, Harry Lovett and Ellie Bamber.
Emma D’Arcy is known for her role as Rhaenyra Targaryen in the TV series House of Dragons. Previously, showrunner Ryan Condall allowed the return of younger versions of Rainier and Alicente’s heroines to the series.
