Olivia Cook, one of the stars of the HBO Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon, will star in the horror film The Breeders. It marks the artistic directorial debut of ascending female filmmaker Kelsey Bolig.
Adam McKay, director of Don’t Look Up and executive producer on the HBO series Winning Time, is one of the creators of the idea and co-producer with Todd Schulman.
The film is described as a social horror thriller that matches the tone of March’s Fresh, a dating thriller starring Daisy Edgar-Jones and Sebastian Stan. Bolig, the true “Queen of Horrors”, won her first Best Screenplay Award for her feature film “Big Kids Play Manslaughter” at the Screech Horror Film Festival in Hollywood. She also received recognition for her first short film, “Reading a Friend”, which has won 18 awards to date, including Best Director at the NOLA Horror Film Festival and Best Comedy Horror at the Famous Women’s Horror Film Festival.
A friend’s question paved the way for Bologna’s second short film, The Fourth Wall. It premiered at the Fantasia Film Festival and then won Best Horror Film at the Nightmares Film Festival, as well as the Hollyshorts Film Festival and its screenplay at the Cine de Terror de Molins de Rei Festival in Spain. His latest short film, Kickstart My Heart, debuted last week on Dancing With Films.
