The representative group leaves on Saturday morning from Athens for Tel Aviv via Istanbul and on Sunday it enters the games against the Netherlands as its first opponent.

As the national coach Yiannis Pilalidis pointed out, “essentially this is the first appearance of the team with this composition in an important international competition. Most of the athletes who make up the team had the experience of participating in the Mediterranean, but for the rest it is their first participation. We travel to Israel to face the Netherlands, who have made significant strides in their national teams in recent years, and the Czech Republic, who are a traditional powerhouse, in their opening group. We want the distinction, we want the path of this team to start with good performances, experiences and successes for the benefit of Greek handball”.

For the sixteen of the national team, Yiannis Pilalidis chose Boutkaris, Daio (Aeropos), Vardaxopoulos, Kalyva (AEK), Kouvraki, (Phoebos), Kouroupis (Alexandros Axioupolis), Panagiotou, Charitonidis, Kolezakis, Bati (ASE Doukas), Tsortekis, Koutoulogeni, Prokopiou (Olympiakos), Marino (PAOK), Vassiliou (AO Prosotsanis) and Cavazis (Drama ’86).

In the European Championship, the National Youth Team was drawn in the first group of the competition, where they will face the Czech Republic and the Netherlands, with the qualification to the semi-finals going to the first two teams.
