French company Renault has found a replacement for the Russian market, it plans to enter the Australian car market with budget Dacia models, which will be sold under the Renault brand.

The first car to hit the Australian market will be the Renault Duster, followed by the big Bigster crossover. According to Renault Australia boss Glen Seale, all models will be exclusively new generation.

With Australia’s interest in SUVs and pickups, the third model in the lineup will be a Renault Duster-based pick-up called the Oroch. The fourth model will be Renault Sandero.

Glenn Seeley also added that the Renault brand has great potential in Australia, with 1.2 million vehicles sold annually in the local market. By comparison, about 1.66 million cars are sold in France each year.
