IAEA says latest ZNPP bombing did not result in ‘immediate threat to nuclear security’

The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) says Saturday’s bombing near the Zaporizhia Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP) dry storage unit for spent nuclear fuel caused some damage, but radiation is at normal levels, the agency’s director general Mariano said. Grossi. said on August 9.

At the same time, the IAEA says the August 5-6 attacks violated nearly all seven essential elements of nuclear safety, including those related to the physical integrity of the nuclear plant, the operation of safety systems and the protection of personnel.

IAEA Director General Mariano Grossi reiterated his grave concern about the situation at the ZNPP and that any military action that threatens nuclear security must be stopped.
