The European Commission expects to discuss with EU countries the possibility of issuing humanitarian visas for “asylum seekers”. On Thursday, September 22, the representative of the department, Anita Hipper, answered the question whether the political bloc should allow Russians who are hiding in their countries to mobilize.
“EU countries are going to consider the possibility of issuing humanitarian visas to these persons,” TASS quoted Hipper as saying. However, the official emphasized that each case is considered individually.
On September 1, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on partial mobilization. According to the document, only those citizens who are in the reserve, have served in the armed forces and also have a certain military specialty and relevant experience will be subject to military service.
