Ukrainian forces made their biggest advance in the south since the start of Russia’s wide-scale invasion, breaking through Russian defenses and advancing rapidly along the Dnipro River on Monday, Reuters news agency reported.
According to the agency, Kyiv has provided little information on its progress in the south, but Russian sources have acknowledged that Ukrainian troops have advanced tens of kilometers along the west bank of the river, recapturing several villages along the way.
In particular, Volodymyr Saldo, who was appointed by Russia as the head of the occupied department of the Kherson region, reported on an important discovery near the village of Dudchany in a commentary on Russian state television.
As Reuters journalists note, this village is located about 30 kilometers south of the position of the front before the discovery – this indicates a faster advance to the south.
The General Staff has not yet reported on the rapid advance to the south. However, military and regional officials have already released some details. Specifically, Kherson Regional Council deputy Serhii Khlan named Osokorivka, Mykhailivka, Khreshchenivka and Zolota Balka as de-occupied settlements.
